Our Junk hauling truck in Palo Alto
Palo Alto is located in the northwest corner of Santa Clara County, about 35 miles south east of San Francisco. The name Palo Alto, which literally means “tall tree” in Spanish, was coined as a reference to a landmark, tall Redwood tree, El Palo Alto, a portion of which still grows on the east bank of San Francisquito Creek (across from Menlo Park). Palo Alto ranks in the top 1% for well-paid singles, college educated adults, and median family income, nationwide.
The city is home to (portions of) Stanford University and is central to Silicon Valley, the incubator of such era-defining companies as Apple, Facebook, and Tesla Motors. In fact, the garage that gave birth to Hewlett-Packard (HP), resides within its city limits. The seeds of innovative thinking were planted a century earlier. Within the city’s historic “Professorville” district, many notable inventions, such the vacuum tube and the electronic oscillator (1911), were invented.
Affluent and Eco-Friendly Palo Alto
Currently home to 64,403 residents, the city is one of the most affluent in the state and the nation. In an effort to streamline the disposal of recycling, garbage and composting, the city’s “Zero Waste” program breaks down into four groups: Resident in a Single-Family Home, Resident in a Multi-Unit Complex, Business, or School.
The Zero Waste program encourages residents and businesses to divert as much as 75% away from landfill and to instead divert them into reuse, repurpose and recycle facilities. The city offers weekly collection for garbage, recyclables, and yard debris. Although e-waste collection is available, not all e-waste is accepted. The city’s website identifies certain types of yard trimming, debris, and other large objects as unsuitable for normal collection. The city of Palo Alto does not collect household hazardous waste (HHW), but instead requires residents to take their HHW to a designated collection center or to a monthly HHW collection event. For HHW, large yard debris, construction, or other materials which are not acceptable with the city, Fast Haul can assist you by picking up your undesirable trash, ferrying it to the required Zero Waste Center and/or cleaning up your yard or grounds after a junk removal.
If you live in the Palo Alto area, and you have bulk items, extra garbage, construction debris, unwanted electronics, discarded furniture, or other items not suitable for standard trash or recycling pick-up, contact Fast Haul as we provide the following services:
